House. Committee on Military Affairs Additional Titles: Military Affairs, Gill, William H., Captain. Corporate Author: United States. Congress. House Additional Titles: Gill, William H., Military affairs Published: Washington: [publisher not identified], For a while I had been reading about the campaigns and personalities of General MacArthur’s Southwest Pacific campaign.

While reading Nathan Prefer’s book, Leyte, The Soldier’s Battle, I came across a citation to this book, Always a Commander, telling of the career of General William Gill, who commanded the storied 32nd, or “Red Arrow” division in MacArthur’s theater from 3/5(1).

William Gill ( – 25 January ) was a Manx merchant navy officer who served as commanding officer of numerous Isle of Man Steam Packet Company vessels. Gill was the first recognised captain of the line, retiring with the rank of Commodore.

He is also known as the captain who first charted an approach to the (then) treacherous River Mersey, which subsequently became known as the Employer: Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Captain William John Gill (10 September – 11 August ) was an English explorer and British army was born in Bangalore, India, the second child and elder son of the army officer, artist and photographer Major Robert Gill ( - ) and his wife Frances Flowerdew Gill.

William Gill William was born about in Shelby Co. In the Union Co. census, it appears that his middle initial is "N", but both the will and deed mentioned above give his initial as "H" so I will assume that H is correct.

William apparently died betweenwhen Susan’s will was written, and when the deed was completed. Capt. Hawk provides inspiration, motivation, and hands-on training on security and management Capt.
